Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him

Good morning. Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial (this is the same word we saw in verse two and can mean temptation); for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. What does James mean by, “once he has been approved“? Does it mean that he has persevered under trial (temptation) with the right attitude? Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God“; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. However, “the Lord’s prayer” does request that He lead us not into temptation. If you have never smoked, and have no desire to smoke, and someone offers you a cigarette, you’re not even tempted to smoke. God is like this with every form of evil – He cannot be tempted to do it. Father help us to persevere under all trials and temptations, so that we may be approved by You.
