But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter.
Good morning. Paul talks about those who “preach the law“, and yet break the law themselves. For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you. That is like Christians who preach against doing one type of sin, and yet privately do the same thing or even a different sin. That is one reason why Christians are called hypocrites. We should never condone sin, and even at times speak against it; but we must remember the goal is to preach Jesus and Him crucified. If we lead them to Christ, then He will take care of any sin that is in their lives. He then talks about the fact that circumcision by itself does not make one acceptable in God’s sight. For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. Not just going to church or other outward trappings are the things that make one a Christian; it is what has happened in the heart that makes one a Christian. An inward change causes outward results. Father thank You that You changed us inwardly and outwardly. Help us to show forth that change every day in our lives.
