For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit
Good morning. And now we have the nine gifts of the Spirit. Some people group them in groups of three, saying that each threesome has a type of relationship. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit (notice they both say word; it doesn’t mean all knowledge and all wisdom for all time); and to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing(s) by the one Spirit, and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. They pretty much take care of any possible situation that might come up in a meeting, though it does not have to be in a meeting. They can take place anytime, anywhere. You hear various interpretations of exactly what each one means. The one I take issue with is the interpretation of what it means by “faith”. The interpretation that I have heard is that it means that the Holy Spirit gives an individual an enormous amount of faith for a particular situation. That may be true, but in the other eight gifts the person is merely the channel through which the gift comes, not the recipient of the gift. (yesterday I said that we would get back to this idea). My thought is that a person by doing or saying something, “gives“ faith to an individual or individuals in the meeting – gift of faith. In the end it is God who decides who operates in which gift for which individual(s). Father thank You that You choose which gift and at what time we operate in. Help us to always be aware of how You want to use us.
