Good morning. Jesus’ mother
and brothers were standing outside seeking to speak to Him. He points to His
disciples and says behold, My mother and My brothers! Whoever does the will of
My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother. He then
gets into a boat while the people stand on the beach. He tells the parable
about the sower and the seed. Some seeds beside the road - birds ate; some fell
on rocky places with little soil - no root, withered away in the sunshine; some
among thorns – thorns choked them; some on good soil – yielded a crop. The
disciples wanted to know why Jesus used parables. To you it has been granted to
know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been
granted; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not
hear, nor do they understand. Many prophets and righteous men desired to see
what you see, and did not see it; and to hear what you hear, and did not hear
it. Now the disciples did not get it on their own either. They had to have
Jesus explain the parable to them. In the future, the disciples would be the
ones explaining spiritual things to the people. If someone hears the word of
God and does not understand it, the evil one snatches away what has been sown
in his heart. If someone hears the word but has no firm root in himself, then
when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, he falls away. The
ones among the thorns have the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it
becomes unfruitful. The seed on good soil hears the word and understands it and
brings forth fruit abundantly. Father thank You that the reader’s heart is good
soil. He/she brings forth fruit abundantly.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
