Good morning. This is the judgment, that the Light has come
into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their
deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come
to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. We see this very much
today with all that’s going on in Washington and elsewhere. There are a lot of
cockroaches afraid right now of being exposed to the light. They hide or try to
misdirect the press. As we have seen many times in the past, those that condemn
a particular sin the most are quite likely doing the same or worse in their own
lives. But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may
be manifested as having been wrought in God. Jesus and His disciples went to
the land of Judea and were baptizing. John the Baptist was also baptizing.
John’s disciples had a discussion with someone about purification. They told
John that Jesus was baptizing, and everyone was coming to Him. They were
thinking like most humans – they wanted their group to increase and their
leader to be magnified. John told them that a man can receive nothing unless it
has been given him from heaven. Jesus must increase, but I must decrease. In
believing this, John was very unusual. He who comes from above is above all, he
who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes
from heaven is above all. No matter how great John was, and Jesus said he was
in another Scripture, those of the kingdom are greater than he. Father thank
You that the reader comes to Your Light. He/she reflects Your Light to those
around him/her.
Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me
Good morning. Paul then gives a list of a lot of things that he has gone through as an apostle. I do not write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. There could be many people that you listen to either in church or through the Internet or other means; but there was only one person (as a general rule it was a person) that lead you to Christ. Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me. He was saying that just like a child imitates his or her father, they were to imitate him. He says that again seven chapters later. Since it is easy to forget some things about people we have not seen in a while, Paul says that he sent Timothy to them to remind them of his ways which are in Christ, just as he taught everywhere in every church. Some have become arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. I shall find ou...
