Good morning. They couldn’t
refute what Stephen was saying so they did what people do today when they have
no good response to the truth – they secretly induced men to say, we have heard
him speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God. If you have no
answer against the truth, you bring in a great lie to oppose it. And they
stirred up the people, the elders and the scribes, and they came up to Stephen
and dragged him away and brought him before the council. They put forth false
witnesses who said, this man incessantly speaks against this holy place and the
law; for we have heard him say that this Nazarene, Jesus, will destroy this
place and alter the customs which Moses handed down to us. And fixing their
gaze on him, all who were sitting in the council saw his face like the face of
an angel. The high priest said, are these things so? He was probably expecting
a simple yes or no; but what he got was an earful. He begins with Abraham when
he was first called by God to go to the promised land. He continues until he
gets to the point where the children of Israel are in Egypt in bondage. But as
the time of the promise was approaching which God had assured to Abraham, the
people increased and multiplied in Egypt, until there arose another king over
Egypt who knew nothing about Joseph. It was he who took shrewd advantage of our
race and mistreated our fathers so that they would expose their infants and
they would not survive. It was at this time that Moses was born. This is part
of the reason I don’t believe that the children of Israel were in slavery for
hundred years, as everyone says. Exodus says that they left Egypt 430 years to
the day after they arrived. You don’t talk about the time of the promise
approaching, if there is 400 years of slavery left to go. The part about
another king arising is in the very beginning of Exodus, as is the part about
Moses being born. We will continue this another time. Father help the reader
and his/her family to have a great day. Meet all of their needs.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
