God was pleased to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him
Good morning. Continuing where we left off… called me through His
grace, was pleased to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the
Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with flesh and blood, nor did I go up
to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went away to Arabia
and returned once more to Damascus. If you read Luke’s account in Acts, this
seems to contradict his account of Paul in Damascus. Paul’s account goes into
greater detail and mentions things that Luke did not. It is possible that Luke
wrote his account before he met Paul. Also Acts is a synopsis of events and not
a detailed one. In these verses, Paul is reiterating the fact that he got his
gospel straight from heaven, and not from men. Paul then mentions his trip to
Jerusalem, which in Acts seems like it was pretty quickly, but here it says it
was three years later. Paul became acquainted with Cephas, and did not see any
other of the apostles except James, the Lord’s brother (to distinguish him from
the other James - John’s brother). This establishes James as an important
person in the church at Jerusalem. He seems to be in charge later on when you
read the book of Acts. Father give the reader the inspiration of what to do for
You the rest of his/her life. Continue to go with and keep him/her and his/her
family.
