Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends
Good morning. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. That’s a very high bar. Very few of us would be willing to attain to that bar. It would be hard enough to do it for family, much less a fellow brother or sister; and yet Jesus did it for us. You are My friends if you do what I command you. There He goes again. No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me but I chose you. That was not only true of the apostles, but also of us. In their case, everything had to come together just right for this to work. He had to have the right men, all at the exact right time. He even had to have the traitor too. I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. This I command you, that you love one another. He just said that, but repetition helps to make things remain in our memory. It also reminds us of the song “beloved let us love one another“. By the way, that was also written by John - the Scripture verses not the song. If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. It’s not that the world hates us, but that it hates what we stand for. We are supposed to remind them of how they should behave. Sadly too many Christians don’t do that. Father thank You that You chose us. Help to be a shining light to the world that they may see how you want us to behave. Continue to minister to us.
