Good morning. Is not the cup of blessing which
we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? The Catholics believe that the
communion (wine) is turned into the actual blood of Jesus. Is not the bread
which we break a sharing in the body of Christ? They believe that it is turned
into the actual body of Christ. We believe that it symbolizes both. Since there
is one bread, we who are many are one body; for we all partake of the one
bread. Paul then goes back again talking about things sacrificed to idols. Then:
Let no one seek his own good, but that of his neighbor. He goes back to talking
about eating meat sacrificed to idols. Then: Whether then, you eat or drink or
whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. If only we practiced that every
day of our lives, we would never do anything wrong. Give no offense either to
Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God; just as I also please all men in all
things, not seeking my own profit but the profit of the many, so that they may
be saved. That is a good philosophy to live your life by. Of course that does
not mean that we violate scripture or our conscience just so we won’t offend someone.
Sadly too many Christians seek their own profit and not the profit of the many.
Father help us to view communion with the proper respect; and to do all things
with an attitude that whenever possible to not offend those around us.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
