If that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second

Good morning. Why is it a better covenant enacted on better promises? If that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second. “Days are coming when I will effect a new covenant with the house of Israel and Judah. I will put My laws into their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” This is from Jeremiah, so they have had the old covenant a good while; and yet there is still a long time till Jesus. Remember: God does not do something unless He first reveals it to His prophets. To the Jews, the old was good enough. The old was in the mind, not in the heart. When He said, “a new covenant“, He has made the first obsolete, but whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear. Sadly, it did not disappear with most of the Jews. Paul, along with other believers, fought long and hard with the Jews to help them see that there was a new covenant better than the old. Father help us to be open to Your guidance and to not assume that the way it has been done in the past is the way we should do it in the future.
