The Amen, The faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation
Good morning. We come to the last of the seven churches, Laodicea. The Amen, The faithful and true Witness, the Beginning [My Bible says that in Greek the word can mean either first in point of time or first in rank] of the creation (Jesus was not created, so I believe it means first in rank) of God says this: I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. While there are some things that are OK lukewarm, most foods or drinks are best when they are either hot or cold, and taste horrible if they are not what they are supposed to be. God can deal with us if we are “cold“, but if we are lukewarm, we refuse to respond to anything from Him. Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing“, and you do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked; I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. [My Bible says that this refers to the three items in which Laodicea took great pride: financial wealth, an extensive textile industry and a famous eye salve.] Father help us to be hot for You and Your Word and not lukewarm.
