He will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.

Good morning. When John the Baptist’s father came out of the temple, he could not speak.

He finished his term of service and went home. His wife became pregnant, but did not tell

anyone. In the sixth month of her pregnancy, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to Nazareth

to talk to Mary. She was engaged to Joseph, a descendent of David. The angel tells her that

she has found favor with God. He tells her that she will bear son and name Him Jesus. He will

be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father

David. Mary wanted to know “how can this be, since I am a virgin?“ The Holy Spirit will come

upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy

child shall be called the Son of God. That would make anyone wonder if that were true. The

angel gives her a sign: your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age, and she

who was called barren is now in her sixth month. That helped to confirm that everything was

true. For nothing will be impossible with God. I believe the king James called Elizabeth Mary’s

cousin; but that is not the proper translation. It simply meant a female relative. If in fact she was

Mary’s aunt instead of cousin, that could be significant. The genealogy of Jesus that comes

soon was supposedly that of Mary and not of Joseph; Joseph’s being in Matthew. If so that

would mean that not only Joseph was a descendent of David, but also Mary was, but not

through Solomon. Elizabeth being her aunt would mean that she and Mary’s mother were

sisters. That’s because Elizabeth, being a daughter of Aaron, would be of the tribe of Levi, not

Judah of which Mary’s father was. So if Elizabeth was a descendent of Aaron, so was Mary’s

mother; so was Mary; and so was Jesus. This would mean that Jesus was a direct descendent

of King David and of Aaron the high priest. Father thank You that You love us so much - more

than we could ever imagine. You only want the best for us.

Out of the smoke came locusts upon the earth, and power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed.
