My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?

Good morning. From about noon until 3 PM it became dark. There is no explanation of how it happened. Recently when they had the eclipse, it became dark for only a few minutes. Then Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” This of course is what was said in Psalm 22, which referred to the Christ. Some people thought He was calling for Elijah to help Him. Someone got a sponge and filled it with sour wine, and gave Him a drink. I always thought that it was wine that had been sitting around for a long time and had gone sour. I read though that it was cheap wine that was given to the soldiers – that is why it was sour. Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. The veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom, and the earth shook; and the rocks were split, and the tombs were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many. Matthew’s is the only gospel that mentions this. The way it is written sounds weird. It sounds like they were raised from the dead when He died; but did not come out of the tombs until three days later when He was raised. Perhaps it's just the style of writing – Matthew was just finishing the episode about them, but did not write it chronologically with the rest of the events. Then again maybe that is exactly what happened. Father thank You that You are constantly with us. Give us guidance every day.

Out of the smoke came locusts upon the earth, and power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed.
