Good morning. Continuing: you showed sympathy to the prisoners, and accepted joyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and an abiding one. Could we joyfully accept it if someone seized our property because we were Christians? Not many of us would. They are after all just things that we cannot take with us, and which are destined for destruction. Don't throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. I'm sure you've heard illustrations of miners stopping just short of the mother-lode. It is hard to keep on keeping on when you don't see the end in sight. For yet in a little while, He who is coming will come, and will not delay, but My righteous one shall live by faith; and if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him. For over 40 years I've heard that Jesus could come at any moment. Many have given up because it has not happened yet. Sometimes we hope for His coming soon just to get us out of a jam. It's like the movie fiddler on the roof. The tailor said "wouldn't this be a good time for the Messiah to come?" (of course they were looking for the first coming of the Messiah). Father thank You that the reader keeps the faith. He/she does not shrink back but stands firm to the end.
