Good morning. I hope
everything is well with you. After facing the storm going to the other side, of
course everything is great, right? Well Jesus meets these two demon possessed
men. In another gospel is says just one. They were exceedingly violent, and no
one could pass by where they were. They cry out "what do we have to do
with You, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?” Notice
that they recognized Him as being the Son of God. They recognize that there is
going to be a time when they will be subjected to torment. They are concerned
that the He has come there specifically to start the torment ahead of time.
They asked to be cast into a herd of pigs, and Jesus permits them. The pigs run
into the water and die. The men watching the pigs run into the city and tell
everything, including the incident of the demoniacs. The people of the city
come and beg Him to leave. The owners of the pigs just lost a lot of money.
Everyone from the city is afraid of someone who has that much power over
demons. Who knows what He might do next. God cared so much about the souls of
these two men, that He sent His Son, Jesus, through a storm just to liberate
them. What do Jesus and the disciples do? They get into the boat and go back
over. People bring a paralytic lying on a bed to Jesus. In Mark, Jesus is
inside a house that is so full that the men cannot get inside the house with
the paralytic. Jesus seeing their faith said to the paralytic, “take courage,
My son, your sins are forgiven.” It wasn't just the paralytic’s faith, it was
also the men who were carrying him's faith. They all could've sat around their
house moaning and groaning that Jesus was not there to heal their friend.
Instead they did something about it. They went to the source of healing – Jesus.
Too often we sit around the house and moaning and groaning about whatever
problem we have instead of going to our source – Jesus. We will continue this
tomorrow. Father thank You that You that You care so much for the reader that
You would send someone through a storm just to meet his/her needs.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
