Good morning. Why did God display Jesus as a propitiation?
This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He
passed over sins previously committed, for the demonstration of His
righteousness at the present time, so that He might be just and the justifier
of the one who has faith in Jesus. This is something that mankind was unable to
figure out. How could God be a just God, and at the same time justify His
people? We deserved total annihilation; and yet He wanted a people for His own.
Someone had to pay for the wrath due us. And so the wrath of God fell on Jesus;
the only one who did not deserve it. We maintain that a man is justified by
faith apart from the works of the law. Or is God the God of Jews only? Is He
not the God of the Gentiles also? This brings us back again to what James said.
God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through
faith is one. No matter what the Jews did, they were not able to receive
justification through what they did – it required faith; and if the Gentiles
exhibit that same faith, they too will be justified without doing the works of
the law. There is not one God of the Jews and another of the Gentiles – there
is only one! Do we nullify the law through faith? May never be! On the
contrary, we establish the law. Just being good and doing good things will not
get you into heaven, whether you are a Jew or Gentile. It requires faith in
Jesus. Father thank You that faith in Jesus is all we need to be saved. We do
not have to follow a set of rules and regulations.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
