Good morning. Now Paul could’ve kept attacking the high
priest; but he perceived that one group was Sadducees and the other Pharisees.
These two groups were like Republicans and Democrats – they really disagreed
with each other and only came together when there was a common enemy, like
Jesus. I am a Pharisee, and am on trial for the hope and resurrection of the
dead! This created quite a commotion because the Sadducees say that there is no
resurrection, nor an angel, nor a spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them
all. The Pharisees said, we find nothing wrong with this man; suppose a spirit
or an angel has spoken to him? They were about to slug it out when the
commander stepped in and took Paul away from them. That night the Lord stood at
his side and said, take courage; for as you have solemnly witnessed to My cause
at Jerusalem, so you must witness at Rome also. This seems to indicate that it
was God‘s will for Paul to go to Jerusalem. It also confirms Paul’s desire to
go to Rome. He did go several years later, but not in the way that he
envisioned; he went as a prisoner. Is this a fulfillment of the verse in the
book of Romans: God causes all things to work together for good to those who
love God, to those who are called according to His purpose? It certainly did
not look like any good could come out of Paul’s situation. Father give the reader
the words to speak in all situations. Show him/her what he/she should do today
and every day.
Unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God
Good morning. While Jesus was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, observing His signs which He was doing. Jesus was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men. Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. It doesn’t say, but I assume it is still during this time of the Passover. This man came to Jesus by night. Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do the signs that You do unless God is with him. It just said that the people believed in His name because of the signs He was doing; yet it does not say what those signs were. Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. That is why unbelievers cannot tell what is of the kingdom of God and what is not – they’re not born again. Nicodemus doesn’t have a clue. How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he? Unless one is born of water and the Spirit ...
