Good morning. Hope
you’re enjoying your vacation. Expanding on the concept of baptism: For if we
have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall
also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self
was crucified with Him in order that our body of sin might be done away with,
so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from
sin. If the devil tries to make us feel badly about something we did before
becoming Christians, we can point to our baptism and say I didn’t do it; my old
man who is now dead did it. And of course in addition to telling no tales, dead
men sin no sin. It does not mean that we do not ever sin; it means that we are
no longer slaves to sin – it does not control us; we choose to sin. When we are
tempted to sin, we should tell ourselves that our old man is dead and resist.
Sadly we don’t. We go on acting like he’s still alive and kicking. We have to
get rid of that stinking thinking. Now it is great that old man was crucified
with Him; but we should act like we were also resurrected with Him. Father help
the reader to have a great, relaxing weekend. Help him/her to see clearly what
to do.
Unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God
Good morning. While Jesus was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, observing His signs which He was doing. Jesus was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men. Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. It doesn’t say, but I assume it is still during this time of the Passover. This man came to Jesus by night. Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do the signs that You do unless God is with him. It just said that the people believed in His name because of the signs He was doing; yet it does not say what those signs were. Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. That is why unbelievers cannot tell what is of the kingdom of God and what is not – they’re not born again. Nicodemus doesn’t have a clue. How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he? Unless one is born of water and the Spirit ...
