But Peter and the apostles answered, we must obey God rather than men

Good morning. So what did they do now? After all, they had told the apostles to not preach any longer in the name of Jesus, but they had done so. Then the captain along with the officers proceeded to bring them back without violence ( for they were afraid of the people, that they might be stoned). When they had brought them, they stood them before the council. The high priest questioned them, we gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us. You got that right, Bo. But Peter and the apostles answered, we must obey God rather than men. That is so very true, but sometimes it’s hard to tell when it’s really God and not just our own desires. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you had put to death by hanging Him on a cross. He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a prince and a savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him. I bet that went over well – not! How would you react if someone told you that you put to death the very hope of your eternal salvation? But when they heard this, they were cut to the quick and intended to kill them. That’s exactly how we would have reacted. And they probably would have killed them if had not been for the intervention of someone that we will talk about

To those, who are chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, and by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood
