And you brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise
Good morning. Tell me, you who want to be under law, do you not listen to the law? He is referring back to them observing days and months and seasons and years. It is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the bond woman and one by the free woman. The son by the bond woman was born according to the flesh, and the son by the free woman through the promise. This is allegorically speaking, for these women are two covenants: one proceeding from Mount Sinai (where the law was given) bearing children who are to be slaves; she is Hagar. And you brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise (that God made to Abraham). He goes on to comment that Scripture says that the son of the bondwoman (born under the law) shall not be an heir with the son of the free woman (born under the promise). Since we were born under the promise, we should not act like someone who was born under the law (while Christians may not act like they are under the law of Moses, they do sometimes act like they are under legalism). Father help us to act like children of the promise and not like children of the law.
