I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.
Good morning. Convinced of this (to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake), I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy (that word again) in the faith (and yet it does not sound like Paul is upset because he’s not going on to be with the Lord), so that your proud confidence in me may abound in Christ Jesus through my coming to you again. (because of this) Conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent (your conduct should not matter whether I come or not - you shouldn’t behave properly simply because I might come and catch you doing something wrong), I will hear of you that you are standing firm (we just read in Ephesians about standing firm) in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel. Notice the “oneness“ at the end of this verse. It is through this unity and the love of God that the church will conquer. Father help us to behave properly whether anyone sees us doing it or not.
