For we never came with flattering speech

Good morning. For we never came with flattering speech (fishing lure), as you know, nor with a pretext for greed (saying things that would make people give them more money) – God is witness – nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, even though as apostles of Christ, we might have asserted our authority. But we proved to be gentle among you, as a nursing mother tenderly cares for her own children. That definitely does not sound like the Paul we know. We were well pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us. Paul then talks about when he was there, he worked to support himself; he did not ask for anything from them. He then talks about how blamelessly he lived his life while with them, encouraging them as a father would his own children to walk in a manner worthy of God. Paul’s goal was not to receive money from them, but to help them live the life that God wanted them to live. Father go with the reader and help this to be the best season of his/her life.
