Now we request you with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, that you not be quickly shaken

Good morning. Now we request you with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him (that Paul talked about in First Thessalonians), that you not be quickly shaken [My Bible says that this word was often used of a ship adrift from its mooring, and suggests lack of stability] from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come (without them knowing it). It seems that here Paul is associating the day of the Lord, not only with the coming of the Lord Jesus, but also our gathering together to Him. He is saying that this day, when it happens, will not be in secret with nobody, including Christians, knowing that it has happened. Whether it is before the great tribulation or at some other point in time, if you are a Christian, you will know that it has happened. Father thank You that when the believers are gathered together with Jesus, we don’t have to worry that it will happen without us knowing about it. We will be going with them!
