We give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers; constantly bearing in mind your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ
Good morning. Today we start the book of First Thessalonians. When Paul and Silas were there, the Jews stirred up a riot against them. They left and went to Berea. He writes: to the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, “grace to you and peace.” We give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers; constantly bearing in mind your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father, knowing, brethren beloved by God, His choice of you. He lets them know that they are not forgotten even when he’s not there by telling them he prays for them constantly. He uses some words with faith, hope, and love (and the greatest of these is love) that are not normally associated with those words. He talks about their work of faith (remember James: faith without works is dead). You also don’t think about laboring with love; however love constantly works to make relationships what they should be. Hope can waiver when things start looking bad – it needs to be steadfast and sure. Father help us to constantly manifest works of faith, labors of love, and steadfastness of hope in the Lord Jesus.
