Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you're not setting your mind on God's interests, but man’s

 Good morning. Taking up where we left off: Jesus tells Peter that He will give him the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever he shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever he shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. The words bound and loosed are in the perfect tense. That means that the actions of binding and loosing had already been accomplished in heaven before Peter did it on earth. Jesus then warns the disciples that they should tell no one that He was the Christ. It was not the correct time for that to happen. That would have caused great conflict between the Pharisees and the people. The people would have wanted to make Him king, and the Pharisees would've been afraid of losing their power. Jesus wanted to “fly under the radar”. Jesus then began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, suffer many things, be killed, and then raised up on the third day. Of course that went contrary to what they were expecting. They were expecting Him to set up a kingdom here on earth right away. Peter even said, “God forbid it, Lord! This will never happen to You.” Peter had just recently proclaimed Jesus to be the Son of God. “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you're not setting your mind on God's interests, but man’s”. A stumbling block was the part of a trap to which the bait was attached. It's like the part of a mouse trap that holds the cheese. The cheese is the temptation, not the stumbling block. The stumbling block holds the temptation. Peter was not the temptation, but what he said was. Father thank You that we also have the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever we binds/looses on earth shall be bound/loosed in heaven.

  Good morning. So what might we call this milk? Leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation (you must have a solid foundation, or the building will crumble at the slightest quake) of repentance (literally means to change your mind about something) from dead works (works of the law for salvation) and faith toward God, of instruction about washings (could have been talking about baptism, but also could have been talking about the ceremonial washing of hands, cups, etc. under the custom of the Jews) and laying on of hands (for healing, receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit, commissioning from the Lord, etc.), and the resurrection of the dead (the end of this physical life is not the end of the spiritual you) and eternal judgment (yes Virginia, there is a judgment day coming to those who do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ). For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses spoke nothing concerning priests.

  Good morning. Now Melchizedek was not a descendent of Aaron: The one concerning whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar. For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses spoke nothing concerning priests. And this is clearer still, if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek, who has become such not on the basis of a law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life. “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek”. All priests came from the tribe of Levi; Jesus came from the tribe of Judah. Priests lived and died, but Jesus lives forever. We will see next time why God did away with the requirements of the law, and replaced them with a personal relationship with Jesus. Father help this to be the greatest month ever for the reader and his/her family.
