If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me

 Good morning. Jesus then goes into the region of Judea beyond the Jordan River. This is most likely the time period in John when people came to tell Jesus that Lazarus was sick. Children were brought to Him that He might lay His hands on them and pray; but the disciples rebuked them. Jesus told the disciples to leave them alone; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. Then a young man comes to Him and asks what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life? As we know, doing good things does not obtain eternal life for you. Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the Commandments. The young man wanted to know which ones. Jesus mentions some of them. All of these things I have kept; what am I still lacking? Deep down inside, he knew that that was not enough. People today think that doing good things will get you into heaven. They still feel that God shaped vacuum inside of them. They don't know how to fill it so they do various things, none of which will succeed. “If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” The young man was very sad; for he owned much property. It's hard to rely on God when you have enough money to take care of all of your needs. What do we put our trust into - where is our treasure? It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. (This is one of the few times that Matthew calls it the kingdom of God, and not the kingdom of heaven. You know of course that the Jews were afraid of saying the word God because they might accidentally blaspheme.) The disciples wanted to know who could be saved. With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. In other words man cannot save himself. Father thank You that we have entered the kingdom of God. You meet all of our needs.

They were not permitted to kill anyone, but to torment for five months [My Bible says it is a limited period of time suggested by the lifecycle of the locust.]; and their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it stings a man. Add in those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, and death flees from them.   Good morning. So what might we call this milk? Leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation (you must have a solid foundation, or the building will crumble at the slightest quake) of repentance (literally means to change your mind about something) from dead works (works of the law for salvation) and faith toward God, of instruction about washings (could have been talking about baptism, but also could have been talking about the ceremonial washing of hands, cups, etc. under the custom of the Jews) and laying on of hands (for healing, receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit, commissioning from the Lord, etc.), and the resurrection of the dead (the end of this physical life is not the end of the spiritual you) and eternal judgment (yes Virginia, there is a judgment day coming to those who do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ). For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses spoke nothing concerning priests.

  Good morning. Now Melchizedek was not a descendent of Aaron: The one concerning whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar. For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses spoke nothing concerning priests. And this is clearer still, if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek, who has become such not on the basis of a law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life. “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek”. All priests came from the tribe of Levi; Jesus came from the tribe of Judah. Priests lived and died, but Jesus lives forever. We will see next time why God did away with the requirements of the law, and replaced them with a personal relationship with Jesus. Father help this to be the greatest month ever for the reader and his/her family.
