Good morning. For the
coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. They were carrying
on like usual until the day Noah enter the ark. That's because they did not
understand until the flood came and took them all away. Can you blame them?
There had never been anything like that before. If they saw the ark, I'm sure
they made fun of Noah. I don't know how far away the nearest water was. Even if
it were close by and they had built boats before, the boats would not have been
anywhere nearly as big as the ark was. So shall the coming of the Son of Man
be. Why wouldn't it be the same? It is absurd to think anything like what is
described about the tribulation will happen. Why should they change their way
of living? Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord
is coming. For the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He
will. Of course there have been various groups that believed they knew which
day Jesus was returning. Jesus then tells a parable about a faithful slave whom
his master puts in charge of his household. If he does what his master told him
to, he is blessed. But if he thinks his master is not coming for a long time
and does bad things to his fellow slaves, his master will come at an hour he is
not expecting him to. His master will cut him in pieces and assign him a place
with the hypocrites. Believers need to be careful about what they do also. We
should behave like He could come at any moment and catch us doing something we
shouldn't (of course we should be doing it because we want to). We should keep
doing what His word says, even if it seems like He is not going to come during
our lifetime. Father thank You that the reader walks according to Your Word
because he/she wants to, not because he/she is afraid You will catch him/her
doing something wrong.
Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me
Good morning. Paul then gives a list of a lot of things that he has gone through as an apostle. I do not write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. There could be many people that you listen to either in church or through the Internet or other means; but there was only one person (as a general rule it was a person) that lead you to Christ. Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me. He was saying that just like a child imitates his or her father, they were to imitate him. He says that again seven chapters later. Since it is easy to forget some things about people we have not seen in a while, Paul says that he sent Timothy to them to remind them of his ways which are in Christ, just as he taught everywhere in every church. Some have become arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. I shall find ou...
