Good Sunday morning. Some
Sadducees came to Jesus to question Him. They did not believe in the
resurrection – that's why they were so sad, you see. You remember the story
about the seven brothers and one wife. At some point you've got to be
suspicious about this woman. If I were one of the seven beyond the first
couple, I believe I would refuse to marry her. In the resurrection therefore
whose wife of the seven shall she be? Jesus said, “you guys don't have a clue.”
You do not understand the Scriptures, or the power of God. In the resurrection
they don't marry, but are like angels in heaven. God said “I am the God of
Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” He did not say I was, but
rather I am. He is not the God of the dead but rather the living. A lawyer of
the Pharisees asked Jesus “which is the great commandment in the law?” You
shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. The second is
like it – you shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments
depend the whole law and the prophets. In other words all you need is love,
love - Love is all you need. Now you won't be able to get that song out of your
head. Father thank You that the reader loves You with all of his/her heart,
soul, and mind. He/she is victorious in all that he/she does.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
