Good
morning. So Peter swam to the shore. But the other disciples came in the little
boat, for they were not far from the land, but about 100 yards away, dragging
the net full of fish. So when they got out on the land, they saw a charcoal
fire already laid and fish placed on it, and bread. Have you ever thought about
this scene? When it says charcoal fire, it does not mean Kingsford charcoal. It
is just wood that has burned down to coals. OK, so it is easy to believe that
Jesus gathered some wood for a fire; but where did He get the fire? There are
numerous instances in the Old Testament where an angel produced fire; so it is
not improbable that Jesus did the same thing. What about the fish? You can
envision Jesus walking to the edge of the water and saying, here fishy fishy
fishy; and they swam to the shore. But the real question is, where did the
bread come from? Yes, Jesus did multiply bread twice; but He had something to
work with – where did He get the bread to work with this time? Did He produce
it out of thin air? Or did He first go to a nearby town and obtain a “loaf” of
bread which He then multiplied? Jesus said to them, bring some of the fish
which you have caught. Peter went up and drew the net to land, full of large
fish, 153; and although there were so many, the net was not torn. It is not
surprising that Peter was the one to do that. The fact that John mentioned the
net not being torn meant that it was unheard of, and hence a miracle. Also
remember that it said that it was a little boat; so it would not have had a
large, strong net in the boat. Father thank You that You provide our daily
needs - which is a miracle in itself. Provide all of the reader and his/her
family’s daily needs.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
