If anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.

Good morning. Paul then talks about how when he was with them he did not take things from them, but worked himself so that they would not have to supply his needs. He wanted to be a model for them. And then the verse that seems to confirm that those who were leading an unruly life were ones that stopped working because they claimed that the return of Jesus was imminent. For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies. If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him, so that he will be put to shame. This again supports the idea of shunning someone. I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand, and this is a distinguishing mark in every letter; this is the way I write. Paul mostly dictated his letters, but usually wrote a greeting in his own hand. His prayer for them at the end of Second Thessalonians is my prayer for you: now may the Lord of peace Himself grant you peace in every circumstance. The Lord be with you all (y’all)!
