Good morning. So what's
the deal between the Spirit and the flesh? Why is there a problem? It is
because the flesh set its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the
flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the
things that you please. There is a war going on within you. It's like the
battle going on that Paul talks about in Romans chapter 7 - doing what you
really don't want to do. So how do we cure this? We make sure that we are led
by the Spirit. Paul then says that the deeds of the flesh are evident. These
are not secret sins. They may start out that way but sooner or later they
become fully evident to all. He then lists a bunch of them. He says that those
who practice such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. He doesn't say
that just because you do them once, that you won't inherit the kingdom of God –
it's if you practice them. However practicing something begins with doing it
just one time. He then lists the fruit of the Spirit. If you are walking in the
Spirit, they will be evident in your life. These are the direct opposite of the
deeds of the flesh. If you are walking in these, you won't be carrying out the
others. And against such things there is no law. However in today's society, it
sure seems like there is a law against it. Those who belong to Christ Jesus
have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. At times though it
doesn't seem like it. Those crucified things keep trying to rise from the dead.
If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Father thank You that
the reader walks by the Spirit and not by the flesh. He/she shows forth the
fruit of the Holy Spirit every day in his/her life. Others want to come to know
You by his/her life.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
