Abraham was confident that somehow or other God would make everything turn out all right, and that they would both return

Good morning. Abraham rose early in the morning (obeying immediately like he always did) and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son; and he split wood for the burnt offering, and went to the place which God had told him. I bet you he didn’t tell Sarah what he was doing. On the third day Abraham raised his eyes and saw the place from a distance. Abraham said to his young men, Stay with the donkey, and I and the lad will go over there; and we will worship and return to you.” There is nothing that says how old Isaac was. [My Bible says that the Hebrew for this word “lad” could mean an infant up to a young man of military age.] Abraham was confident that somehow or other God would make everything turn out all right, and that they would both return. Father help us to keep our confidence in You even when things look like they will not work out the way You said they would.
