I will give you the price of the field; accept it from me that I may bury my dead there
Good morning. Abraham: “I will give you the price of the field; accept it from me that I may bury my dead there.” “A piece of land worth 400 shekels of silver, what is that between me and you? So bury your dead.” [My Bible says that despite Ephron’s pretense of generosity, 400 shekels of silver was an exorbitant price for a field. He was taking advantage of Abraham during a time of grief and bereavement. He knew that Abraham had to deal quickly in order to have a place to bury Sarah, so he insisted that Abraham buy the entire lot and assume responsibility for all dues concerning the field.] Abraham had no choice; he did not even try to bargain with him. So Abraham bought the cave and the field and buried Sarah in the cave which faced Mamre (Hebron). Father thank You that You go with us and take care of us whatever may happen.
