God will provide for Himself the lamb tor the burnt offering, my son

Good morning. Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son, and he took in his hand the fire and a knife. So the two of them walked on together. We dont know how old Isaac was, but he was big enough to carry the wood. “My father!” “Here I am, my son.” “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” Good thinking. “God will provide for Himself the lamb tor the burnt offering, my son.” This is referred to in preaching today as a foreshadowing of God providing His Lamb, Jesus, as an offering for sin - (John 1:29) John the Baptist saying of Jesus, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” The book of Hebrews says that he, Abraham, considered that God is able to raise people even from the dead, from which he also received him back as a type. From the classic Hymn: trust and obey, for there’s no other way. Father help us to get to the point where we can trust and obey You no matter what You may ask.
