Good morning. I’m sure you’ve heard people either in person
or in the movies say “you will know the truth and the truth will set you free”.
They don’t quote the first part of that statement which completely changes it.
If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will
know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Do you want to be a disciple
of Jesus – then continue in His word. It says that He said this to those who
had believed Him (when He said that He was the “I am“). He was not just talking
about getting your fire insurance. He was talking about truly being a disciple
of His. Too many believers are not truly disciples of Jesus. Even though they
believed Him, they were still thinking in the natural: we are Abraham’s descendants
and have never yet been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say you will
become free? While they were not enslaved, Roman soldiers on every street
corner indicated that they were not truly free. Everyone who commits sin is the
slave of sin. He was telling them that they were thinking in the natural, while
He was talking in the spiritual. This is part of why He said you need to
continue in My word. If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. People
in the United States are free physically, but are enslaved spiritually. I know
that you are Abraham’s descendants; yet you seek to kill Me, because My Word
has no place in you. I speak the things which I have seen with My Father;
therefore you also do the things which you heard from your father. We’ll see
next time how upset they get over this statement. Father thank You that we can
continue in Jesus’ word and truly be His disciples. Set us free with that word.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
