Good Sunday morning.
Remember that last time the people said that Jesus had a demon. I did one deed,
and you all marvel. The last time He was in Jerusalem, He healed the man by the
side of the pool. At that time they were upset because He healed on the Sabbath.
On this account Moses has given you circumcision (not because it is from Moses,
but from the fathers), and on the sabbath you circumcise a man. If a man
receives circumcision on the Sabbath that the law of Moses may not be broken,
are you angry with Me because I made an entire man well on the Sabbath? It is
just the opposite today. People think that the only way they can get healed is
to come to church and get healed on Sunday. Do not judge according to
appearance, but judge with righteous judgment. If only people would abide by
that today. The people debated about who Jesus was. They wondered if the rulers
thought that He was the Christ. However, we know where this man is from; but
whenever the Christ may come, no one knows where He is from. They thought that
Jesus was from Nazareth, not heaven. So in essence, they did not know where He
was from. You both know Me and know where I am from; and I have not come of
Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know. I know Him; because I
am from Him, and He sent Me. Father thank You that You constantly look after the
reader. You always do what is best for him/her. Make this a beautiful day for him/her.
Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me
Good morning. Paul then gives a list of a lot of things that he has gone through as an apostle. I do not write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. There could be many people that you listen to either in church or through the Internet or other means; but there was only one person (as a general rule it was a person) that lead you to Christ. Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me. He was saying that just like a child imitates his or her father, they were to imitate him. He says that again seven chapters later. Since it is easy to forget some things about people we have not seen in a while, Paul says that he sent Timothy to them to remind them of his ways which are in Christ, just as he taught everywhere in every church. Some have become arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. I shall find ou...
