Good morning. I pray that your family is doing well. Jesus
had just said that not all of the disciples were clean. He became troubled in
spirit, and said, one of you will betray Me. That would be very troubling. He
had known it for a very long time, but now the fact became magnified. Suppose
you were in a group of friends at a meal, and the leader of the group just said
something like that. What would you think? The disciples were thinking the same
thing you would have. They were looking at one another, at a loss to know of
which one He was speaking. If He had told them who it was, what do you think
they would have done to Judas? What do you suppose Judas was thinking when He
said that? This would make for a perfect one of those “want to get away?“
commercials. There was leaning on Jesus one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved.
That is a curious designation, since we would think that Jesus loved them all,
especially since most people believe that John was talking about himself. So
Peter asked John to “get the skinny” on this - after all he was leaning on
Jesus so he was right there next to Him. Lord, who is it? That is the one for
whom I shall dip the morsel and give it to him. So when He had dipped the
morsel, He gave it to Judas. One would think that now John knew who it was that
was going to betray Jesus. Next time we will see another reason why I believe
that this was not the Passover meal. Father, go with the reader’s family. Help
them to have a speedy recovery.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
