Good morning. Now a verse that
seems incredibly impossible. He who believes in Me, the works that I do, he
will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the
Father. I think we would settle for works much less than Jesus did – forget
about greater ones. Jesus had to go away. If he had not, He would’ve only been
able to be in only one place at any one time. He had to ascend to the Father so
that He could send the Holy Spirit in order that we could do greater works than
He did. Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be
glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. If you
love Me, you will keep My
Commandments. That seems pretty clear; but why are we not doing it? We do the
first part all right – ask in His name; but why doesn’t He do what we ask? We
are all looking for some little formula that will make everything work. So we
ask Him for something in His name, and nothing happens. If that were all that
there was to it, then we wouldn’t need to trust in Him – we would just simply
ask and everything would be all right. I think I told you before about Kenneth
Hagan praying for a relative to be healed, and he wasn’t healed. He asked God
why not, and God said, that’s between him and Me – it’s none of your business.
If God doesn’t tell us specifically why some prayer was not answered, all we
can do is guess – and that’s usually wrong. And if someone else has a prayer
that is not answered, we start looking for some sin that they did to be the
reason why the prayer was not answered. Before we leave these verses, look at
the last one; if you love Me, you will keep My Commandments. We demonstrate our
love for Jesus by keeping His
commandments. It’s easy to say I love You Jesus; but it’s a lot harder to do
what He says to do. Father thank You that You love the reader, and he/she loves
You. Help him/her to demonstrate his/her love for You every day to everyone.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
