Good morning. Remember that Jesus had just given Judas the
morsel. Satan then entered into him. Therefore Jesus said to him, what you do,
do quickly. Now no one of those at the table new for what purpose He had said
this to him. [Now here comes another reason why I think this was not the
Passover.] Some were supposing, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus was
saying to him, buy the things we have need of for the feast; or else, that he
should give something to the poor. First of all, you were supposed to stay in
the room all night, because it represented the first Passover, when the angel
of death came in Egypt. Now I don’t know if that meant till daybreak, or just
until midnight. Either way, if it were permissible for him to leave, then the
Passover was over; it would be too late to buy anything for the feast. Also the
Jews would probably have stoned anyone who was selling things during the
Passover night. And the verse says that some thought that Judas was going to
buy some things for the feast – so it was not the Passover night. Remember that
I said that some people think that this was a meal before the Passover meal. To
me that does not make sense. Why would you eat, if you were getting ready to
eat? The next verse discredits that belief also. So after receiving the morsel,
he went out immediately; and it was night. Passover began at sundown. You were
not supposed to leave the room during Passover. Don’t worry – there are more
reasons we’ll see later why I believe this was not the Passover meal. We will
do a little more since I digressed a lot. Therefore when he had gone out, Jesus
said, now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in Him; if God is
glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him
immediately. Father thank You that everything went according to Your plan. Help
us to trust You that everything in our lives will go according to Your plan
provided we trust in You and follow Your directions.
Unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God
Good morning. While Jesus was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, observing His signs which He was doing. Jesus was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men. Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. It doesn’t say, but I assume it is still during this time of the Passover. This man came to Jesus by night. Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do the signs that You do unless God is with him. It just said that the people believed in His name because of the signs He was doing; yet it does not say what those signs were. Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. That is why unbelievers cannot tell what is of the kingdom of God and what is not – they’re not born again. Nicodemus doesn’t have a clue. How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he? Unless one is born of water and the Spirit ...
