Good morning. Become sober minded as you ought, and stop sinning;
for some have no knowledge of God. I speak this to you shame. Now wait a minute
Paul! Did Alexa tattle on us? From what came before and what follows, most
likely he was not talking about sinning in general, but about them not
believing in the resurrection from the dead. Someone will say, “how are the
dead raised? And with what kind of body do they come?“ You fool! (that was
harsh. I thought Jesus said to not say that about someone) That which you sow
does not come to life unless it dies; and that which you sow, you do not sow
the body which is to be, but a bare grain, perhaps of wheat or something else.
Possibly they were thinking that if God did raise their body from the dead,
that it would be just like their current body only without any frailties, and
would simply last forever. Paul is saying concerning plants: what one sows, is
not what grows. Similarly, your resurrected body will not be like your physical
body. Actually, we cannot even imagine what it will be like. Father help us to
not be concerned about things that do not matter, only those that do. Help the
reader to keep his/her eyes on what is most important.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
