Abram’s wife Sarai took Hagar the Egyptian, her maid, and gave her to her husband Abram as his wife

Good morning. Abram had lived 10 years in the land of Canaan [My Bible reminds us that Abram was 75 years old when he left Haran to come to the land of Canaan.], Abram’s wife Sarai took Hagar the Egyptian, her maid, and gave her to her husband Abram as his wife. She conceived; and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her sight. Having children was extremely important for women in that day and age. Those that did not have children were looked down upon as being cursed by God. This would also mean that Abram’s heir would come through Hagar, not Sarai. Of course this child would make sure that Hagar was taken care of. These are some of the reasons that Hannah was so upset because she did not have any children. This makes her gift of Samuel to the Lord that much more magnificent. At this point Sarai was extremely sorry that she had made the suggestion to Abram. Even though we may be extremely sorry that we did something, it does not mean that there are no consequences for having done it. Father continue to bring healing and protection to the reader and his/her family.
