In those days, after the tribulation, the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken

Good morning. Just like in Matthew, Jesus then leaves the temple and the disciples are very complementary about all the wonderful stones that make up the buildings of the temple. According to Josephus, they were white, some of them were 37 feet long, 12 feet high and 18 feet wide. Jesus tells them there will come a time when there will not be one stone left upon another. The disciples want to know when, and Jesus goes through the same things He did in Matthew. Mark uses a little different wording for the following: in those days, after the tribulation, the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And then He will send forth the angels, and will gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest end of the earth to the farthest end of heaven. Matthew mentions a great trumpet and says four winds instead of farthest end of the earth to the farthest end of heaven. Just like the fig tree – when you see the leaves, you know that summer is near. So too when you see these things happening, recognize that He is near, right at the door. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. Father help us always to be ready for the return of Jesus; no matter how soon or how long it takes.
