The stone had been rolled away, and the women entered the tomb. They see a young man sitting at the right. He tells them that Jesus has risen

Good morning. Now it is evening. And because it is the preparation day, that is, the day before the Sabbath, Joseph goes to Pilate and asks for the body of Jesus. Mark says that Joseph was also a member of the council. Pilate is surprised that Jesus is already dead. After finding out that it is true, he grants the body to Joseph. Joseph bought a linen cloth, took the body down from the cross, wrapped Him in the linen cloth and laid Him in a tomb. This linen cloth is what is supposedly the shroud of Turin. When my friend and I went to Europe, part of our trip was to try to see the shroud of Turin. It had been on display for the public to see, but we were too late. It was kept in a silver box elevated high in the Cathedral. We did get to see a replica which was very impressive. It looked like the photographs that you see. The different gospels have different versions of what follows. When the Sabbath was over, the women bought spices to anoint His body. The stone had been rolled away, and the women entered the tomb. They see a young man sitting at the right. He tells them that Jesus has risen, and they are to go tell His disciples and Peter that He was going ahead of them to Galilee; there they will see Him. So Mark agrees with Matthew that the disciples were told to go to Galilee; but Mark does not have them going there instead of the upper room. However Mark barely mentions it, without calling it the upper room, and it is in the part is in dispute - that seems to be tacked on later. Mark then gives his version of the great commission which we will cover tomorrow. Father thank You that the tomb is empty. He is not there – He has risen!

So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
