Judas then goes to make arrangements with the chief priests to betray Jesus.
Good morning. Passover is two days away. Mark has Jesus in Bethany at the home of Simon the leper. He then tells us about the woman with the costly perfume who anoints Jesus. Judas then goes to make arrangements with the chief priests to betray Jesus. We are now at the first day of unleavened bread when the Passover lamb was being sacrificed. (if this truly was Passover, then Jesus our Passover lamb was sacrificed 24 hours after the Passover lambs.) They go through the meal just like in Matthew. They go to the garden, and the men come to arrest Jesus. All the disciples flee. Now a couple of verses that Matthew does not have: A young man was following Him, wearing nothing but a linen sheet over his naked body; and they seized him. But he pulled free of the linen sheet and escaped naked. They go through the trial and Peter’s denial of Jesus three times. Early in the morning the council meets to complete the accusations against Jesus. They take Him to Pilate. The Romans take Jesus to Golgotha to crucify Him. Jesus hanging on the cross cries out “My God My God, why have You forsaken Me?“ This points back to Psalm 22 which speaks of the Messiah. Father thank You that Your Word is always true. There is nothing impossible for You.
