Which one proved to be a neighbor to the man who got hurt? The one who showed mercy.
Good morning. So this dude was going from Jerusalem to Jericho and some robbers beat him up and left him for dead. And by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side (he must’ve been going in the same direction or it would have just said that he passed him by and would not have said on the other side). It’s getting as busy as I-4 going towards Orlando. But a hated Samaritan, who was on a journey came to the place and saw him and felt compassion. It does not say in which direction the Samaritan was going. If he had been going the opposite direction, he would have seen the priest and the Levite and would now realize that they had not stopped to help the man. He bandaged his wounds, put him on his own beast, brought him to an inn and took care of him. It does not say how far away the inn was nor which direction. Remember the whole trip was only 17 miles. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. Take care of him and whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you. One coin was worth a full day’s wages. We don’t know how much it cost just to spend the night; so we don’t know if this was a lot or simply how much it would cost for a two nights stay. The innkeeper must have known him and that he was good for the money. Which one proved to be a neighbor to the man who got hurt? The one who showed mercy. He couldn’t even bring himself to say the word Samaritan. Go and do the same. He thought he had Jesus right where he wanted Him; but in the end, he was the one that was gotten. Father thank You that we can be a neighbor to those around us. Help people to be good neighbors to us and to help us in whatever way we need.
