Now even the first covenant had regulations of divine worship and the earthly sanctuary
Good morning. Now even the first covenant had regulations of divine worship and the earthly sanctuary. The author then mentions the things inside the holy place. Behind the second veil there was a tabernacle which is called the Holy of Holies, having a golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was a golden jar holding the manna, and Aaron’s rod which budded, and the tables of the covenant; and above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. A couple of things about the previous verses: first the altar of incense was not behind the second veil. That is clear from the book of Exodus. Was that an error? No serious Jew would’ve made that mistake. My Bible excuses it as the author showing the close relationship to the inner sanctuary and the ark. While that is possible, it may mean that the author was not a Jew. The second thing is that while all of those objects were inside the ark at one time; they were not there when Solomon dedicated the temple. Only the tables of the covenant were there. Father continue to show us the truth of Your word.
