Now if perfection was through the Levitical priesthood what further need was there for another priest to arise according to the order of Melchizedek
Good morning. Now if perfection was through the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the people received the law), what further need was there for another priest to arise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be designated according to the order of Aaron? If the law was perfect, and the Levitical priesthood was perfect, what need was there for something different? When God spoke this through David about there being a coming change in priesthood, it wasn’t at the last minute - a desperation because the old way failed. The law had been around for only a few hundred years – there was still 1000 years to go till Jesus. God knew, even before creation, that there was a better way. He was showing man that man could not obtain holiness on his own. For when the priesthood is changed, of necessity there takes place a change of law also. If the law was good enough, there would not have been a need to change the priesthood. Father help this to be a great week for the reader and his/her family.
