Good morning. Verse 10 and
verse 14 of the 10th chapter of the book of Hebrews: by this will we have been
sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. For
by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. When
Jesus died on the cross legally we were sanctified. We were set apart as holy
unto God. Experientially though we still have work to do. We didn't have
anything to do with the first part, but we do with the second. The working out
of that sanctification in our lives doesn't happen by accident. It takes work
and will. Sometimes it's hard to have the will to keep on keeping on. It seems
like nothing is happening. Verse 14 says that he has perfected for all times –
those who are being sanctified. Through the cross we were made perfect.
Experientially we're still working on it. It's like that song says "I am a
promise, I am a possibility". The promise and the possibility are that day
by day we are being sanctified, and we are being perfected. We are not today
what we will be tomorrow. That is our possibility and it is His promise that He
will make it happen. Take comfort in that promise. It will happen!
Unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God
Good morning. While Jesus was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, observing His signs which He was doing. Jesus was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men. Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. It doesn’t say, but I assume it is still during this time of the Passover. This man came to Jesus by night. Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do the signs that You do unless God is with him. It just said that the people believed in His name because of the signs He was doing; yet it does not say what those signs were. Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. That is why unbelievers cannot tell what is of the kingdom of God and what is not – they’re not born again. Nicodemus doesn’t have a clue. How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he? Unless one is born of water and the Spirit ...
