Good morning. Continuing in the vein from
yesterday – and without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes
to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek
Him. For the Christian it's not just a mental thing like in some religions. If
we truly believe, then no one can convince us differently. We do believe that
He exists and that He is the same yesterday today and forever. He hasn't
changed what He expects from us; and He hasn't changed what He will do for us.
It doesn't say that He is a rewarder of those who do some list of things; but
He is a rewarder of those who seek him – the king James says diligently seek
Him. We have that hope of the bicycle. Our hope is in this God who never
changes. You heard it before "it's not seeing is believing; but rather
believing is seeing". When we believe that he is a rewarder of us who seek
Him, then we see that bicycle in our hands. We seek God and not the bicycle.
Our motto is: we keep on believing God even if we never ever physically hold
the bicycle. Verse 13 says "all these died in faith, without receiving the
promises, but having seen them and welcome them from a distance, and having confessed
that they were strangers and exiles on the earth". They were willing to
keep on believing God even though they never physically saw the results. Keep
seeking Him, and He will reward you. He will give you the desires of your
heart.
Unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God
Good morning. While Jesus was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, observing His signs which He was doing. Jesus was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men. Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. It doesn’t say, but I assume it is still during this time of the Passover. This man came to Jesus by night. Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do the signs that You do unless God is with him. It just said that the people believed in His name because of the signs He was doing; yet it does not say what those signs were. Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. That is why unbelievers cannot tell what is of the kingdom of God and what is not – they’re not born again. Nicodemus doesn’t have a clue. How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he? Unless one is born of water and the Spirit ...
