Good morning. Just as the
body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. Faith is
not really a verb, but you can think of it like it is an action verb. And of
course action verbs need something to act upon. If they don't have something to
act upon, they are "dead". Then James tells us that not many of us
should become teachers, knowing that as such we shall incur a stricter
judgment. It is bad enough to have a wrong belief yourself. But when you impart
that wrong belief to others, then you will receive greater judgment. You will
be multiplying your false doctrine. We all stumble in many ways. If anyone does
not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body
as well. It's a lot easier to think about what we should or should not do. They
are concrete. But things that you say – how can that be so bad? Back to that
tongue thing. It's not just what we do, but also what we say. We know that old
saying is false: "sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never
hurt me". Words can do much more harm at times than any physical action.
Too many times words of unbelief can nullify the promises of God. The tongue is
a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. It promises things
its bank account can't pay for. No one can tame the tongue; it is a restless
evil and full of deadly poison. Father thank You that the reader tames his/her
tongue. He/she only speaks good and not evil.
So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed
Good morning. We left John at the entrance of the tomb, stooping and looking in. “Shy” Peter then arrives following John, and enters the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there. So the other disciple, John, who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. It does not say whether or not Peter believed. For as yet they did not understand the scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes. I’m not exactly sure what it means by their own homes. They were originally from Galilee and would not have had homes in Jerusalem. Perhaps it means the homes where they were staying while in Jerusalem. Apparently, they were not staying in the upper room, or it would have said so. But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped (just like John) and looked into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been l...
